Memoira ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy and the privacy of your family's stories. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, including:

• Account information: Name, email address, and phone number when you sign up
• Family story content: Conversations, voice recordings, photos, and memoir chapters you and your family members create
• Payment information: Processed securely by Stripe — we never store your full card number
• Usage data: How you interact with our service, to improve the product

2. How We Use Your Information

• To generate memoir chapters using AI based on your family's conversations
• To send you updates, new chapters, and service-related communications
• To process payments and manage your subscription
• To improve and personalize the Memoira experience
• To comply with legal obligations

3. Your Family's Stories Are Yours

The stories, recordings, and content your family creates belong entirely to you. We do not sell, share, or use your family's personal stories for advertising or training AI models without your explicit consent. You can export all your content at any time.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• OpenAI: To power the AI memoir generation (subject to OpenAI's data policies)
• Stripe: To process payments securely
• Resend: To deliver emails
• Cloudflare: For hosting and security

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data and family stories for as long as your account is active. On the Legacy plan, designated family members retain access to the vault indefinitely, even after the primary subscriber is gone. You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing us.

6. Security

Your data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your family's stories. However, no system is 100% secure — please use a strong password and keep your login credentials private.

7. Your Rights

8. Children's Privacy

Memoira is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us data, please contact us immediately.

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll notify you by email or in-app notice of any material changes. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
